China's automakers' body warns tariffs will hurt consumers2025/4/7 8:41:22(Beijing Time) Lange Steel
The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said on Friday that it strongly opposes the United States' decision to impose a 25 percent tariff on imported cars and certain components, noting the move severely violates WTO rules, disrupts trade order, and significantly impacts the stability of the global automotive industry's supply chain.
The association said this move will further raise car prices, burdening consumers in countries including the US and negatively affecting global economic recovery.
It called for the US government to listen to voices from the automotive industry, correct its actions promptly, engage in negotiations and exchanges, seek mutually beneficial solutions, and conduct international trade with an open, inclusive, and cooperative attitude to jointly uphold the prosperity and stability of the global automotive industry.
