Despite geopolitical tensions and shipping disruptions, Chinese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have remained optimistic in their export performance this year, reporting healthier payment collections and stronger bargaining power in international markets, according to an industry survey.

The survey, conducted by XTransfer, a B2B cross-border trade payment platform, targeted the company's clients across the country. It indicates that SMEs have become more agile in adjusting market strategies as they improve pricing power and operational quality.

"Facing de-globalization, geopolitical risks, and logistics volatility, SMEs continue to show remarkable resilience," said Deng Guobiao, founder and CEO of XTransfer.

Deng was speaking at an annual trade summit in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, on Wednesday. Representatives from more than 4,500 foreign trade enterprises, more than 50 banks and financial institutions, and industry experts gathered in Shenzhen to discuss global trade opportunities, business growth strategies, and digital intelligence in cross-border finance.

"SMEs are the most capable force in global trade, and every foreign trader's global dream deserves to be protected," said Deng.

Deng added that the company has improved its fintech investments to scale AI applications in risk control and business processes to address the needs of SMEs for security, compliance, efficiency and cost optimization.
